Lapco Aluminum Cocking Handle for Tippmann 98′s – Just Arrived

Posted by paintballtech on April 14, 2010

Just arrived. We’ll be taking pictures and should have them up on the sites soon.  Here’s the cocking handle on Lapco’s site. Lapco has long made a stainless steel version of this cocking handle too. Now these knobs are basically for looks but they do have a nice shape to them so you never have to worry about tearing up your fingers when cocking your Tippmann 98. This is the original Tippman 98 cocking handle. It’s normally covered by a little rubber cap but those can fall off and you’re left with this serrated handle. These handles, both the stainless steel and the aluminum version, will fit on ALL of the Tippmann 98 series gun from the original Model 98 up to the 98 Custom Pro Platinum gun. They’ll also fit on the new US Army Project Salvos and and US Army Alpha Blacks.

New Tippmann Paintball Gun the X7 Phenom

Posted by paintballtech on October 21, 2009

Tippmann X7 Phenom New Paintball Gun Release

Tippmann X7 Phenom New Paintball Gun Release

The Phenomenal X7!  TippmannParts.com is now taking pre-orders for November delivery.

The new X7 Phenom from Tippmann has been labeled the “Ultimate Woodsball Marker”.  Built along the current X7 body style, the X7 Phenom is already ahead of the game in accessories.  It can accept over 20 original X7 mods and upgrades, even the Flatline barrel!  With a new design bolt system, seen nowhere else in paintball, the X7 Phenom has the best technology in a smaller package.  Almost 3 inches shorter than the X7, the Phenom is lighter and still has the Tippmann Mil-Sim look. It has Picatinny rails to mount all your tactical accessories!

The new Flex Valve system allows for faster rates of fire than blow back markers and can operate on either co2 or HPA.  The blow forward design operates at a low 300 psi.  That means more shots per tank, and a lot less kick and movement.  You’ll be able to stay in the game longer and hit more targets with the super smooth operation of the new Flex Valve.

Semi or Full-Auto?  You decide! The X7 Phenom incorporates the Hall-Effect trigger and safety system proven in the previous H.E. Grips.  Easily switch from safe, to semi, to one of 5 firing modes.  Just flick the switch and change your style of play from sniping to machine gunner!  It’s a seamless change not only between modes, but from a mechanical operation to electronic.

Another feature players have wanted is the option of a mechanical backup to the electronic modes.   If you get in a tight spot and your battery dies, flick back to semi and you’ve got full mechanical operation to fight your way out!  But that’s not all!  It’s a sear-less design.  That’s right no sear in this baby.  Less parts equals simplicity, less wear, and a smoother trigger pull.

Also included on the X7 Phenom is a redesigned cyclone feed.  To keep up with the Flex Valve system, the need for an upgrade feed system was a must.  The new design fires up to 20 bps is also easier on paint.

Does not qualify for the X7 rebate program.

TippmannParts.com Tech Update

NEW TPX PISTOL
CO2 UPGRADE KIT
STRAIGHT FROM TIPPMANN:

New TPX Pistol CO2 Upgrade Kit
Over the past few months, feedback regarding our new TPX Pistol has been overwhelmingly positive. The new product has generated a tremendous amount of interest and excitement among paintball players around the globe. However, an issue regarding the pistol has surfaced.

It appears the dimensions for CO2 cartridges vary far beyond our initial tests, and have resulted in some cartridges not puncturing. Although we tested numerous brands, we have discovered that certain types of cartridges may not puncture on the first pull. If you’ve noticed this issue, please contact us at 1-800-533-4831 or visit www.tippmann.com, click on the CO2 Upgrade Kit link and simply complete the appropriate TPX form with your serial number. We’ll send you a free CO2 Upgrade Kit including a new cap with an adjustable set screw that adjusts for various CO2 cartridge sizes, as well as a new, easy-to-install pin assembly.

If you have experienced any other issues, whether it is velocity, efficiency, or paint breakage related, we encourage you to visit our new TPX Tech Support program on the Tippmann web site to learn more about troubleshooting, installation and maintenance of your TPX Pistol. There are also some helpful tips on how to correctly pick paint and properly load a magazine. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for in the videos, you may always contact our Tech Service Team at 1-800-533-4831, or 1-260-749-6022.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. We actually became aware of these issues via customer phone calls and paintball forums. We are pleased to offer this free upgrade kit which will make the TPX pistol more adaptable to the many different CO2 cartridges in the marketplace. Thank you for your continued support and ongoing communication – it’s appreciated.

US Army Project Salvo Paintball Gun

Posted by paintballtech on June 9, 2009

SalvoEmail

www.Tippmannparts.com is excited to announce the release of the Project Salvo paintball gun by US Army Paintball. This exciting new marker is packed full of new features including: a six position collapsible and foldable stock, an AR-15 style shroud with four built-in Picatinny rails and a new AR-15 style magazine that doubles as a helpful toolkit. The marker also incorporates a flat-top Picatinny rail built into the receiver, which makes it simple for players to quickly add a handle, sight, scope, flashlight, or a variety of other mods.

Another great feature of this marker is its extensive upgradeability. The Project Salvo marker can easily accept the eGrip upgrade as well as several other performance upgrades from the Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Series such as the Cyclone  Feed System, Response  Trigger and Flatline  barrel.

Much like Alpha Black, the name selected for this new marker is rooted in U.S. Military history. Project Salvo was a series of tests conducted by the U.S. Army’s Operations Research Office (ORO) from the mid to late 1950s. The research obtained through Project Salvo helped lead to the development of the AR-15, which would go on to become the M-16 – widely considered among the most respected and proven rifles ever utilized by the United States armed forces.

Tippmann TPX Pistol Leg Holster

One of the first Tippmann TPX accessories out is the Tippmann TPX Pistol Leg Holster.  It’s going to be available at the same time that the Tippmann TPX Pistol is released.  (Around Mid April, 2009)

It’s also fully adjustable.  The belt strap and leg strap are adjustable so it’s comfortable on just about everyone.  The Tippmann TPX Pistol itself is held in place with heavy-duty nylon straps.  It won’t fall out.

There are two removable storage pouches.  So you  can go light and quick or loaded for the day.  The side pouch will hold 4 extra TPX Pistol Magazines and a barrel plug.  The front pouch can hold another Tippmann TPX Pistol Magazine.  Add the one in the gun and you can carry 6 magazines.

Paintball Gun Review: Tippmann A-5 vs Tippmann 98 Series

Posted by paintballtech on February 3, 2009

Lord Odin from the A5 Operator’s Group wrote this well thought out and thorough paintball gun comparison pitting the Tippmann A-5 against the Tippmann 98 Series guns.

Tippmann A-5 vs Tippmann 98 Series Paintball Guns
Tippmann A-5 Paintball Gun

Tippmann A-5 Paintball Gun

The Tippmann A-5 is the next generation of markers after the Tippmann 98 with a few major differences.  On average, they cost a bit more, but for about $50, you get a superior marker.

The first major upgrade is the Cyclone feed system built into A-5 marker.  Tippmann has done away with the vertical feed and have added a pneumatic force feed system that virtually eliminates jams.  Unlike electronic loaders, there are no batteries and force is only applied to the balls when the gun cycles.  Due to the large opening of the Cyclone, it eliminates jams in the feedneck that can happen on the 98 Custom and any other small feed neck gun.  The Cyclone has a lower profile than traditional hoppers, which is ideal for woodsball because players will mostly pop up over something than off to the side.  Reducing your silhouette reduces your chance of getting shot.

Tippmann A-5 E-Grip

Tippmann A-5 E-Grip

Tippmann has also made the gun more accessible by including pushpins for commonly removed items.  Rather than completely disassembling the marker like on the 98’s, you can now remove pushpins to access your optional E-grip, remove your internals to lubricate or fix a problem, or change stocks.  The A-5 lets you completely remove your trigger and grip.  This is important if your trigger is malfunctioning or if it starts to rain and you want to switch back to a mechanical grip.  The front grip is also removable, which gives you more options of style and placement on the marker.

The internals of the A-5 gun are very similar to the 98 Custom with one major exception.  The A-5 now makes use of a tombstone.  This is a piece that slides into the gun from the outside and is locked into place but is easily removable.  On the 98’s, a braided hose was screwed directly into the valve body and was not easily removed unless in the staging area.  The Tombstone on the A-5 allows for easier disassembly and gives you more upgrade options.  Now you can mount a regulator directly to the gun, move locations of your gas line, or even connect a remote line directly.   And all of this is done easily by attaching it to the tombstone with your hands.  No tools are necessary to connect components to the tombstone or the tombstone to the gun.

Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Series ACT Paintball Gun

Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Series ACT Paintball Gun

The A-5 now has completely enclosed internals.  The 98 Custom had its cocking handle connected to the hammer, which exposed your internals to dirt, paint, and other debris.  On the A-5, the cocking handle has been relocated and the internals closed off, which will make your gun operate better and cleaner.  Parts such as o-rings will need less replacement, as well.

The A-5 comes with a different barrel threading than the 98 Series guns.  One of the complaints of 98 users was the barrel twisting loose on them due to the steep threading.  The gradual threading of the A-5 barrels requires more turning to remove the barrel.  This creates a tighter fit and it is much less likely to unscrew.

Lastly, manufacturers are producing many more upgrades and accessories for the A-5 instead of the 98 series, which seems to be taking a back seat to the A-5.  This gives you many more upgrade options when you choose the A-5 and many of them are easy to install with the quick release pins.

For the little extra money, the A-5 is big step up from the 98 and is well worth price.

-Thanks for the review Lord Odin!  An abbreviated version of this comparison has been incorporated in to our Tippmann A-5 Buyer’s Guide.  TippmannParts.com carries the full line of Tippmann A-5 and 98 Series Paintball Guns in stock at the best prices.
